Series: Avatar: The Last Airbender

Physical Description: Toph is very small and stocky, with a muscular build and a thick mane of black hair. Her hair is always up save for her bangs, which fall in her face in a sort of messy display. Some may think she needs a haircut, but Toph wears her hair in her face on purpose. Born blind, her eyes are a very pale almost green shade of grey, her pupils only slightly darker than the outer color. She usually wears loose-fitting, almost boyish clothes, possibly due to not being able to care much what she looks like. Because she "sees" with her feet, Toph is very rarely seen wearing shoes. Should an occasion arise in which shoes are mandatory, you can be certain that she is most definitely Not Happy About It.
Personality: Pampered and obsessed over as a child, Toph is a completely spoiled brat. She grew up always getting her way, so when things stray from her personal plans she tends to throw a tantrum and pout. She has a very short fuse and gets angry easily, also tending to storm off in the face of an argument which doesn't appear to be moving in her favor. She is surprisingly apathetic about her blindness, often cracking jokes at herself for being unable to see. On the contrary, however, she is extremely proud of her ability to function alone, and tends to react violently when people try to help her. She does not like to be underestimated or belittled, and especially does not like to be considered a cripple for her eyes. However, she can also play the part of a helpless little blind girl very well if a situation calls for it, and she often pulls that card just for kicks to make people feel sorry for her so she can get her way.
Abilities/Strengths/Weaponry: Being born blind never gave Toph the opportunity to miss seeing, instead forcing her to utilize her other senses to function. She has extremely good hearing, as well as a heightened sense of touch. Because of this, she "sees" with her feet, gauging vibrations through the ground of people and objects around her. She is difficult to sneak up on unless you drop in on her from above. She carries no weapons, but if you piss her off and she can find your face, you're in for a nasty knuckle sandwich.
Weaknesses:Sokka Obviously, blindness. Toph is very susceptible to airborne attacks, having no way of "seeing" someone if they do not touch the ground around her. Her short temper also tends to get her in trouble, for reasons that she tends not to think before getting herself in a bad situation when she is angry. She is also surprisingly easy to upset when it comes to her physical appearance, though she rarely shows it. Toph is also unable to read or write due to her blindness, leaving her somewhat lacking in the area of study.
History: In April of 1864, a wealthy family in the King's Council of Aegis gave birth to a baby girl. Born blind, her parents named the baby Toph(拓芙), the characters standing for "supported lotus". Toph was nurtured and pampered by her overprotective parents, who saw her blindness as a disability and then some. Toph's very existence was kept secret from the world as she grew up on their estate in the governmental city of Dardanelles, never allowed outside its gates and kept under the watchful eye of her parents' hired help. Toph was raised as a delicate flower, never given the chance to do anything for herself, and hardly given the chance to do anything at all beyond sitting around looking pretty. She was led around the estate by anywhere from one to five servants, never allowing her any privacy or even the chance to discover things she liked.
As the years went on, Toph took to sleeping long into the afternoons and spending nighttimes awake to allow herself time on her own. She started tearing the bottoms out of her soft indoor shoes and feeling things, slowly learning to "see" the world around her. She wandered the halls silently overnight, learning her way around for nearly four years until at the age of seven, she ventured out of the estate one night. She stayed within its fences for nearly two years, scoping out the great outdoors at night and learning more things still until her ninth birthday, when she escaped the estate entirely and wandered the nearby streets of Dardanelles. Unfortunately, she was caught, and while she got off scot-free claiming she was sleep-walking and didn't remember a thing, her parents' security became even stronger over her, keeping a constant servant vigil on her bedroom, even overnight as she "slept".
Nearly four years passed and Toph was tired of being kept indoors like a caged animal, having grown a strong resentment for her parents for treating her as they did. She knew in her heart they meant well, that their tight leash was kept on her for protection, but she had still had enough. Soon after turning thirteen, Toph carefully began to plan, gathering the things she valued most and hiding them from her watchful servants. About four months before turning fourteen, Toph gave her parents' guards the slip, taking with her only a small knapsack of clothing and a good amount of money. She threw around her parent's names, gaining herself passage on a handful of ferries, finally landing herself just outside of Navarre after what seemed like weeks of travel and new voices. She has changed the meaning of her name to "entrusted man"(written 托夫), refusing to acknowledge being called a "supported lotus" any longer.
